Luke Bradley, Head Boy

Luke came to us from Frimley Primary and Heretaunga Intermediate Schools after moving to New Zealand from Zimbabwe in 2002.

He has achieved NCEA Level 1 with Excellence and NCEA Level 2 with Merit.

Luke has represented the school senior teams in a number of sports including Hockey, Cricket and Cross Country. 

Luke’s goals for his last year at Hastings Boys’ High School are to encourage participation in school-wide events and to carry on the strong traditions the school values.

   

 

Ryan Adams, Deputy Head

Ryan is an ex student of Frimley Primary and Heretaunga Intermediate. At Hastings Boys’ High School Ryan has been involved with many sports such as Canoe Polo, Hockey and Cricket.  Ryan’s proudest moments have been being part of the winning Stage Challenge team in 2008 and being selected in the Hawke’s Bay Canoe Polo team. 

Ryan is also the Student Representative on the Board of Trustees.  His goal as Deputy Head Boy is to encourage more involvement from the senior school in all aspects of school life.  Outside of school Ryan is on his way to completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award.  In 2012 Ryan is looking to go into a career in the aviation industry as a pilot in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

 

 

 

Uefo Pio, Cultural Captain

Uefo Pio attended Mahora Primary and Heretaunga Intermediate schools in his primary years.   Uefo received Merit endorsement for his NCEA Level 1 examinations and  has been involved in Polynesian Studies and Performance from Year 9.   Uefo received a Headmaster’s Award for being young Pacific leader of the Polynesian Group 2011.  

Amongst his many achievements Uefo is also a member of the school choir and makes a valuable contribution.   In the future it is Uefo’s desire to enter the Army and train as an officer or become a physical education teacher.

 

 

Reuben Henry, Sports Captain

Reuben came to us from Peterhead school where he spent most of his schooling years.   During his secondary years at Hastings Boys’ High School he has played many sports like Basketball, Rugby and Cricket.  As a cricketer he has played Hawke’s Bay Age Group Cricket and is a senior player in our school’s First XI which he has been in since Year 10.   Reuben’s goal for 2011 as Sports Captain is to encourage students to participate in all sporting codes and to show pride in the Huia whilst playing.
Next year Reuben is looking to go to Victoria University to study Architecture.


 

Akina Honours Blazers are awarded to students who have achieved Honours in three areas.
This award has become a prized achievement in the senior school.
