ROOPU MANU HUIA - National Qualifiers in 2011

For the first time since 2001 Hastings Boys' High School Kapa Haka group has qualified for the National Secondary Schools' Kapa Haka Competition to be held in Whangarei in July of 2012.

Our school will be one of the few main stream schools competing at this prestigious event.  Added to this it will be one of the few groups to have a boys'-only group.  One of the highlights of the Hawke's Bay Regional Kapa Haka festival was our school winning both the waiata tira (coral) and whakawatea (exit).  This was a testament to the quality of the singing and choreography that the group displayed.
