Hastings Boys' High School has actively pursued policies and strategies that have assisted the school in planning and implementing programmes that are making a difference for the school's Māori students.

An increase in the number of Māori students enrolled at school, Māori student pass rates at Level 1,2 and 3 above the national mean and Māori students achieving the same or better as their peers are all key indicators that Māori succeed as Māori at Hastings Boys' High School.
