Insurance
International students are required to have medical and travel insurance cover. Hastings Boys’ High School has an arrangement with Uni-Care for this purpose – application forms can be obtained from the school.![]()
General Notes
International students attending Hastings Boys’ High School are:
- Not permitted to drive a car or ride a motorcycle
- Required to obey the rules of the school
- Required to deposit Passports, Visas and travel documents with the school for safe keeping

English Language Tuition
International students at Hastings Boys’ High School are mainstreamed into classes according to their age and English language ability. They are expected to sit New Zealand Qualifications Authority Examinations (NZQA) which make them eligible for entry to a New Zealand University or Polytechnic.
The school offers:
- One-to-one tuition in English language
- Immersion English language courses (English as a Second Language)
- On-going English language support throughout the year
- An English Language Resource unit for International Student
- Entry to New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) examinations
