Sport at Hastings Boys' High School
All students of Hastings Boys' High School are encouraged to get involved in the sporting opportunities offered at school to enhance their personnel growth and development. All year levels can compete along side and against their peers. Highly skilled and talented students can challenge themselves by playing at higher levels.
Achieving excellence and winning are important goals at Hastings Boys' High School. As important is the school's commitment to improving both team and individual performances as we work hard to take an athlete centred approach to students' sporting development. The school celebrates their sucesses at assemblies, in the Akina Teamtalk, at the annual Sports Awards Dinner and on special honors boards around the school.
Hastings Boys' High School has traditionally offered a wide range of sporting opportunities. We are continuing to do this with approximately 30 different codes incorporating over 70 teams are organized through school. 80% of our staff commit themselves to school teams which is exceptional when the Hawke’s Bay average staff involvement in 2009 was 48%.
