Clay Target

The school clay target teams over many seasons has produced many excellent shooters.  In 2007 Hastings Boys’ student Anthony Frank competed and won the NZ Clay Target Nationals.  He top scored in the 1st A Grade Single Rise and Junior Champions events where there were 330 shooters of international class.  This was an incredible accomplishment bearing in mind that Anthony won the NZ Senior title in a highly competitive Senior Grade.

Clay Target is seen as an important sport at school.  The school recognises that by developing strong links with the Hawke's Bay Clay Target Club as well as other local shooting venues we are able to improve our existing shooters.  The school is currently trying to introduce the sport to many novice shooters to proactively increase participation in the sport.

In recent years the school has practiced on Wednesay after school at the Hawke's Bay Clay Target Club on Maraekakaho Road. In 2010 the Teacher In Charge of Clay Target and Small Bore Shooting Mr. Tim Curran took students to Napier to shoot twice a week.
