Junior A Cricket 2011
|
The talented Junior A cricket team enjoyed a very successful start to the season in 2011, with many good victories over quality opposition. Beating Lindisfarne College 10A twice was a fantastic achievement. We also had victories over Karamu and CHB. The team contains some immense talent that will no doubt be representing our 1st XI in the future. Top order batsman Michael Burnham and Nicholas Rogers Rehn have both been in great form with the bat, consistently setting a good platform for others to bat around. Hamish Sykes scored an outstanding unbeaten 50 in our last game of the season that enabled us to chase down a sizable total. |

Many middle order partnerships between the likes of Hamish Sykes, Jeffrey Alderton, Luke Stanley and Dominic Nash were crucial to seeing the team score plenty of runs. Hunter Chapman and Ethan Flanders developed significantly as the season went on and will be important contributors again later on in the year. Jeffrey Alderton was a very reliable and skilled wicketkeeper, who often had to back up after scoring runs with the bat. Our bowling line up always supported our batters by bowling a good line and length and restricting any free scoring. Jordan Lay, Dominic Nash and Hamish Sykes were the pick of the bowlers in the team and were consistently rewarded with numerous wickets. Luke Carrington and Nicholas Rogers Rehn also chipped in with some excellent spells of medium pace bowling. The team showed an outstanding commitment to training and always played with a great deal of sportsmanship. I hope this momentum from term one will be carried into the second half of the season in Term 4.
