Super 8 Golf Championship

Two days after winning the Hawke's Bay Champs the team travelled to Gisborne to play in the annual Super 8 competition held at the Poverty Bay Golf Club.  Liam Stops once again led the way with a superb 73 to see him third in the individual section after the first round.  Stops though found trouble in the latter half of his second round to fall slightly off the pace.  Max Gill again proved his worth as the Year 9 student shot rounds of 79 and 78 to help Hastings Boys’ to a 6th place finish at the end of day one.  The final 18 holes proved a mixture of results with Stops and Gill producing rounds of 76 and 78 respectively to consolidate Hastings place of sixth overall.  Hamish Carruthers and Poroa Kaa also had periods of good play and will benefit much from the experience as they
prepare for the nationals.
