2011 Hawke's Bay Rep Players from HBHS 

Hockey is one of the major winter codes at Hastings' Boys High School.  The Director of Hockey is Mr. Dean Hulls who HNZ Level 2 qualified.  Mr. Hulls has coached all levels of Hawke's Bay representative teams in recent years and is one of the highest qualified hockey coaches in the Central Districts Region.  He has coached Central Districts National Hockey League Senior and Under 21 teams over the last 4 years in NZ's premier domestic national tournament.

 

Hastings Boys High School has seen numerous players over recent seasons go on to represent Hawke's Bay and Central Districts NHL Hockey Teams.  Most recently in 2008 Hastings Boys' High School 1st XI Hockey Captain Callum Bailey was selected to represent the Junior (U21) Black Sticks team in the Oceania Championships and travelled to the Junior World Cup.

  

 

 

 

The HBHS Hockey Progamme strives for excellence in the development of players with coaches delivering optimal elite training programmes.  We aim to extend individuals to achieve excellence in all areas of sporting, academic and personal life.  Elite junior players are invited to apply for the Hockey Academy.

 

1st XI Hockey players and Hockey Academy members are required to sign a pre-agreed contract.  They are set targets in terms of attendance, motivation, homework, behaviour and academic performance which MUST be maintained if they wish to stay inside the squad and Academy.  Only if players maintain a balanced life can they succeed in hockey.
