Rugby 2nd XV

The pre-season for the HBHS 2nd XV has started well with boys training hard.  We physically stronger than in 2010 with many of the previous season's Year 11 growing considerably.  The hard work put in in Term1 has seen the boys improve technically and tactically as well.

Game Report v Havelock North High School 1st XV - 3rd May 2011

Whilst the real test of how strong we are will be seen in the Super 8 competition it is always interesting to see just how far we measure up against many of the other local schools' 1st XV teams.  The last game played was against Havelock North High School's 1st XV.  We were by far the hungrier team and made most of the running.  The forwards played very smart tight rugby and controlled the ball for long periods of time, while the backs showed excellent pace frequently finding holes in Havelock's defence.  The score at half time was 35-0 and we were in complete controll.  This allowed Coaches Mr Small and Mr Onekawa to utilise their entire bench giving substitutes valuable game time.  The second half was similar to the first as HBHS 2nd XV ran out 60-10 winners.  The only disapointment was to let the visitors cross our try line in an otherwise controlled effort.  Some excellent trys were scored noteably by Dean Drummond, Vincent Miller, Ben Williams, and Piripi Jessup.  Some photos can be seen below from the game as well as a video of one of the HBHS tries.
