Hastings Boys' Swimming Champions 2011

The Championship races at the 2011 swimming sports proved to be as hard fought as ever with some very close races contested.  There were however some standout swimmers.  Year 9 student Joshua Greening won all of his races except one contributing a massive 66 points to Manu Huia’s Year 9 total of 197 points.  Another dominant display was delivered by Year 10 student Thomas Hulena winning every race he competed in providing 70 points for his house Te Kahu.  Whilst the Year 11 competition was more even Te Mata’s Thomas Sturch won the Year 11 title with 61 points.  The senior swimming champion was Daniel Gregory-Campbell.  Daniel won every race contributing the maximum 70 points to Heretaunga’s Senior Year Level total of 163 points!  Congratulations to the boys shown below for their top 3 placing in the 2011 Hastings Boys’ Swimming Sport Championships.

Inter House Swimming 2011

House leaders and senior students this year are extremely eager to create a real sense of passion and pride in their Houses.  This was evident in their approach to Swimming Sports which was the first House event of 2011.  The participation levels of all year levels increased again as the senior students led from the front.  The large intake of Year 9 students saw an excellent injection of enthusiasm. All the house and championship events were enormously competitive with houses having various degrees of success in the different year levels.  The victorious houses at each year level were:

Congratulations to the winning House which was Manu Huia.  Whilst well led by their senior students the large winning margin was primarily due to the dominance in Year 9 and the excellent results in Year 10.
