Rugby Academy

The Sports Academy initiative within the junior school and has been a great success.  The students have bought into the principles and core values being taught.  They have thrived in an environment where hard work and old fashioned values have allowed huge steps forward to be made.

The students are developing their individual skills and also learning how to function as part of a team.  Numerous students made progress and this had a profound effect on the Co-curricular sports teams they were playing in.  An example of this is last year's junior rugby teams where four teams made the 2009 semi-final; the teams were E and F Grades, U14 and U15.

Added to the physical side, students are also learning about how to train and are developing an understanding of what is involved off the field.   This programme uses the experiences of staff at school and works closely with the Hawke's Bay and New Zealand Rugby Unions.

The Director of the Sport is Mr Te Ahu Teki.
