2016 was a rebuilding year for Hastings Boys' High School golf with 6 of last years top players not returning this year.  The team of Sam Webb, Sam Morrell, Wade Williams and Jake Hamerton played well above their own expectations at times.

The annual Super 8 competition was held in New Plymouth during week 4 and was played at Ngamotu Golf Club.  All 4 boys played well with Wade playing superbly to score an 81 in the second round.  With a lack of experience in our team it was always going to be difficult to compete with the more experienced schools but it was pleasing to see the effort and team unity.

The following week we competed at the Hawkes Bay Secondary Schools championships and finished a credible 4th.  Again, it was difficult for us to compete given the inexperience of the boys but it did prove a valuable exercise on one the boys will benefit from.
