In Product Design, students are taught various skills - problem solving,practical application and project management.

In Term 1, students build a Pool Table, see photos below. For the second halfof the course, students design and make their own projects. Popular projectseach year are bluetooth speakers, bedside tables, deck chairs, storage andfurniture pieces. The course is offered in a wood workshop but students arechallenged to think outside the square and are encouraged to use a variety ofmaterials in their projects with access to CAD/Fusion 360, 3D printers, lasercutters, CNC routers and the CNC plasma cutter.


Standards Assessed:
AS91608 Brief Development.  (4 credits).
AS91610 Conceptual Design.  (6 credits).
AS91611 Prototype Development.  (6 credits).
AS91620 Complex Procedures.  (6 credits)

Entry Requirements
Preferably, you attended any one of our workshops in Year 11 or Year 12 but this is not a prerequisite. If you have a keen attitude, willingness to learn, open minded and is a hard worker, you are in.

Product Design is a University Entrance accredited subject and although it provides opportunities for students to study towards University and Polytechnic qualifications, students can also become Tradesmen. Product Design provides students with transferable skills they can apply in all walks of life.

Students from this workshop have become professional Engineers, bankers, builders, plumbers, electricians, architects, nurses, real estate developers, draughtsmen, project managers, etc.
