Year 8 students and their whānau are invited to join us for our Open Night on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

  • 4:45pm  Doors open 
  • 5:00pm  Headmaster's address including Kapa Haka performance and remarks from Head Boy, Amanjot Singh
  • 5:30pm  Student-led tours of the departments including Wood Tech, Music, Food Tech, Art, Pasifika, Social Sciences, and more
  • 7:30pm  Evening ends

Boys' Day Out 

An opportunity for Year 8 boys to try out classes and extra curricular activities


Moving from primary school to intermediate was a big step.


And now choosing which High School will suit your son is the next challenge.


Boys' Day Out gives students the opportunity to experience an all-boys learning environment full of energy and activity, that is tailored to boys’ specific needs.


Year 8 boys spend a day at our kura, participating in class and extra-curricular activities as a student. It's a great chance to feel what a day at Hastings Boys’ High School is really like, and learn what it is to be a Good Ākina Man.​​​​​​​

Boys' Day Out takes place in Term 1, and visits are organised directly with Year 8 boys' existing kura.
